BeS BLDC Control Platform
Developed and launched in 2018, the BeS motor control platform was the first 12V brushless motor controller developed at SBD and was based extensively on the HiP program. BeS is configurable for both 12V and 20V motor control applications and fits generically in SBD’s master geometry for handlesets. An exercise in high volume and cost sensitive design, more than 5 million units were shipped in the first year of production!

Design for low-cost
This Brushless e-Switch (BeS) was designed to compete directly with another in-house design and also provide a cheaper 2nd source, with productions lines at a competing supplier in a different country. Being both 20V and 12V compatible, this Brushless e-Switch ushered in the first brushless 12V tools offered on the DEWALT product line.

Design for high-volume
Three manufacturing lines were commisioned and qualified in the first year of production, each capapble of shipping 1.5M EAU with 2 shifts.
